Post Sun Mar 14, 2004 5:00 pm

hey guys, i'm looking to buy a lense for my canon that i will also be buying this weekend, what lense would you guys recommend for lets say weddings and parties... should i go with the sharpness of a straight 50mm, or should i get something versatile like the 28-105mm? :? :?

Probably depends more on your shooting style. I prefer a zoom because I like to shoot full frame as much as I can in digital. Need to conserve those pixels. :)

Given the focal length multiplier effect of the 10D you probably don't need it to stretch to 105mm. Consider something in the 24-70 f/2.8 sort of range.

I use the 28-135 IS and it works for me. :)

Same here -- it is my "standard" lens. Most of the pics in my galleries were taken with it, as are 99% of the images of mine that appear in the CES and Surround Pro show reports over at SMR (see sig).

Take 50 mm f/1.8 in any case and some other, like 24-70L. If you can't afford that or don't feel like spending that much, go with Tamron 28-75 for 300 bucks.
