2x teleconverter

I need to purchase a 2x converter for a nikon 80-200 2.8 D lens . I will be using this device on a nikon d70s or my d200. What TC will let me maintain auto focus and through the lens metering?

Looking at http://www.nikonusa.com/fileuploads/pdfs/2129_2130.pdf
tells you that Nikons own 2XTC should work for that lens. The TC-20E is pricey, but given the lens you are putting it on I wouldn't want to trust a cheaper 'possible' alternative.

Be ready for a much slower autofocus....

I figure that the longer your lens the slower the AF. But with a bigger f stop should also make tracking easier. If your not doing high speed action I wouldn't worry about it.
For my 70-200 I have a 1.4x and will now be adding a 2x for that extra reach. Since we are both with an initial F2.8 I believe it will be fine.
