Personally, I don't think I've met a single photographer who doesn't buy his equipment at B&H, whether online or in the store. Now maybe that's because I've lived in the NY area, so everyone there knows B&H. On the other hand, even when I meet people from other countries, everyone's heard of B&H. They have very good prices but more importantly, they are extremely reliable and professional.

In addition to the regular B&H, Adorama, and Amazon - I have had great experiences buying from Unique Photo http://www.uniquephoto.com. They are based in Fairfield, NJ and I have shopped both online and in their store.

Infact, I like their store better than B&H because they have for the most part the same prices, is a much more laid back atmosphere, you can spend time with the sales people asking questions, and you dont have to drag yourself into NYC. (yes i do realize the question was where to buy online - this was just a side note - plus they do have a good little cafe in the store, lol)

EBay has some good dealers like Cameta but I prefer to buy from B&H for 90% of my needs.
Excellent service and they will match price, most times.

I have had good experiences with B&H, but whenever possible I prefer to buy from our local photo store, who have matched or come very close to most of the B&H prices when I have asked. The advantages are that I know the owner well who also sponsors our photo group, I deal with the same sales person with whom I have a good rapport, I can try out the cameras or lenses before buying and if something ever goes wrong with the gear they will take care of the problem. There's something to be said for instant gratification too. Best of all I am supporting a local small business instead of a faceless giant out of state business. Now, and for a few years now, I buy everything from Amazon because it's tax free and shipped free over a certain amount. :D
Trustworthy, great track record, many sources.
Never had a problem buying bodies, lenses, etc.
You can't beat it.
Felt bad for B&H...yeah, for about two minutes!

Update on buying from local camera stores. I dropped a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 lens in my garage and dented the focusing ring and side of lens. I took it to George's Camera and they sent it to Nikon Repair for me. I had the repaired lens back in twelve days. I did not have to pack the lens, mail it, insure it etc. Only had to drop it off at the store and pick it up when they called me to inform it was back from Nikon. I also asked for a description on what was repaired and received a detailed written explanation from Nikon. My total cost was $167.00.

I have dealt with B & H for years, buying a variety of photographic products. I have always found their service to be excellent and their prices competitive. For second hand gear, KEH.com is great. They habitually rate their offerings lower than they actually are and they can't be beaten for used specialty lenses.

I will stick to newegg.com,

I haven't bought any gear over the net but am considering it now. I am interested in people experiences.

Cheers

B&H sells a lot of grey market, will stick to newegg.com for new and refurb, if refurb has a Nikon warrenty than its a Nikon refurb, it was done by Nikon.
