Where is the best place on line to buy?

Good places to buy:

BHphotovideo:
Good and reliable. A lot of choices.

Buydig.com or Beachcamera.com (same company):
Good prices and reliable but not many choices. Nikon authorized dealers.

Adorama:
Good selection but average prices.

Ritz Camera:
Good selection but higher prices.

Amazon.com
...

Stay away from the other dirt cheap online stores. They reap you off.

Has anyone bought from
http://WWW.BroadwayPhoto.com
http://www.bwayphoto.com/Default.asp?&l=broadwayphoto

Their prices are very cheap with a high shipping charge. But still very cheap even after the high shipping charge.

Thank you and everyone else who took the time to mention us so nicely. This is very gratifying.

bobfloyd wrote:I have to vote B&H as well. Pretty much my whole rig has come from there with the exception of one lens I got off Ebay. In fact, I placed an order with B&H yesterday for two new lenses and had confirmation that they had shipped in my e-mail this morning.

You can sometimes find things a bit cheaper than B&H if you look around so far they have the best balance of price and service I have found anywhere and I have been doing a lot of looking the last couple of months with Minolta's announced departure from the digital imaging world.

I totally agree that B&H are great, price wise, shipping wise and response to problems wise (the latter was minor--partially torn box but lens was fine). Beach Camera is a good outfit also

Sign up on Amazon Associates and then buy their cheapo camera equipment, you get anywhere from 4-7% back on whatever you purchase. Hehehe.

I just ordered a camera using my credit card online. I then got a message (email) asking me to call by phone to assure authenticity. I was then pitched everything under the Sun and warranty protection. If I purchased the protection I would get all kinds of upgrades...ex. 5 hour batteries instead of 15 minute batteries, better memory cards, lenses using glass optics instead of plastic....They lay it on heavy and fast so be prepared

I no longer purchase from B&H. I had nothing but good things to say about this company until UPS failed to deliver a lens. On- line tracking clearly showed that the lens was not delivered, yet it took 3 months for B&H to resolve that issue. I think that B&H is a wonderfully stocked, their prices are hard to beat, but..........

I now purchase exclusively through Adorama.

B&H photo of course and
Canoga Camera

I'd purchase more frequently from Canoga Camera if I didn't have to pay the state sales tax, but for people living ouside of California they have some good deals too, although not as well stocked as B&H. If you order before 2pm Pacific time, they ship to you that very day. They are great!

I can't say enough good things about Samy's Cameras http://www.samys.com

Have used BH, Adorama, and they are great. But Samy's is the first place I go when I am about to spend a chunk of money, bought my D70, D200, 18-200VR from them. I live in Arizona, and they are located in California, so stuff gets here quick. Customer Service is outstanding.

I have used B&H for five years or more and have never had a problem with them. Even when I end up buying something elsewhere, I always start with B&H to compare prices and other consumer related information. I live in Maryland and usually my order is at my door the very next day. I can't remember having to wait more than two days for anything from them to be delivered.

Same thing happened to me. Their prices are so low because they put the cheapest crap in the packages on the camera body. Then they make you call to confirm and pitch you everything. The guy literally wouldn't let me just order the package online and when I asked to look at what hes looking at, its his "catalogue." Rude too. I cancelled but my status still says order received. They better not charge me. Yeah don't buy from these guys

Almost all photo shops in NY are scam artists. There is a photographer who has built up a huge list of pictures of all the NY shops who are online, showing you the outside condition of the shop. Being in the business of buying a lot of camera goods, I can say that there are just a handful of trusted shops in nyc. And broadway photo is not one of them. You might find this site useful for camera prices. It has reviews and supports 4 countries, it seems france (country option) link is not working.

Anyway, always do a search for "store name" sucks, or "store name" scam etc before making a purchase. Not all "bad" testimonies are "completely" true, but at least you might find common occurrences like "rudeness" etc.

Good luck with future purchases
