Post Wed Oct 04, 2006 2:56 am

Slug and Company,

Please add the following lens to the camera database:

Minolta 28-75/2.8 (D) AF - 2004 (stock photos of this lens sent by e-mail to cameras@pbase.com)

Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know about those dates and new lenses to add. I've updated all that information so let me know if there are still anyproblems.

You said to let you know about problems so I am letting you know...I sent in two photos of the 50mm f/1.4, taken of my lens by me, which have not been added yet. You can also find these photos by following the links I have provided below this:

I also note that sbbish has asked to have a Minolta lens added in the post right above this that is not yet in the db.

Thanks. :)

Not to get tacky folks but I am going to get tacky. What does it take to get lenses added to the database?

The two posts above this both ask for Minolta lenses to be added back in Oct of last year. I have also sent at least one (maybe two, I can't remember) e-mail to the address Pbase has published for db additions with the same requests.

So far the requests have gone without being implimented and without any sort of acknowledgment either.

I also took the time to shoot photos of the requested lenses (as well as one other lens already in the db but lacking a photo) and post them for Pbase's use in the db. So far the photos have been as ignored as the requests to add things.

If the Pbase staff does not have time to update the db when folks have these requests (requests Pbase asked for, btw) then please open up the db to those of us willing to work on it. I am sure you could find volunteers to work on each of the major companies to make sure the db is as complete and accurate as possible. Personally, I would love to handle the Minolta db. As a "dead" company it would not take long to fully complete it and as a long time Minolta user I have resources to get the right data on Minolta equipment going way back into the dark ages.

I think it is sad that such a cool feature goes without any attention except when the camera companies provide you with a press release about a new product.

You people shouldnt bother with lens linking, all you really need to is to make mention of the used lens???

Anyways, random browsing thru lens or camera usually sucks because there's always people who are gonna link about one million pics.

Browse D80 all you're gonna see are car shots

Browse Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 all you re gonna see are hockey shots

etc

This lens shows up at almost the very bottom of the list of lenses. It was released in Feb of 2007 I think, should be near the top. No date listed on pbase site. Also, there are no images of the lens itself when you click the link. Awesome lens, i think it deserves better respect than this. No reason to treat it like a nikkor. :D

I've added the date, press release, and an image to the Canon 16-35mm. Thanks for letting us know about that missing information!

I noticed that the three chinon lenses have been added. THank you to whoever has done that. They are in the camera section of the Chinon page though and not the lens section. It would be great if that could be fixed. Thank you again!

I upload a series of portrait using both the new Sinar Hy6+eMotion 75LV back (with Schneider AFD 80/2.8, and Schneider 180/2.8 AF) and Hasselblad H3D39 (with HC 100/2.2), thru the link below;

Hope this helps with your camera+lens database.
