Which "L" to buy next

So i'm in the need of a new lens. I had my canon 28-135mm stolen on my last trip.

I currently have a Tamaron 11-18 mm, canon 17-40 f/4 L, canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS L, canon 50mm f/1.8, and sigma 18-125.

I need a standard zoom to replace my 28-135. I am looking at the canon 24-70 f/2.8 L, the canon 24-105 f/4 IS L, and the canon 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 IS L

Not sure which i want...

any advice?

I have the 24 - 105 and it is a very, very good and robust lens....(dropped it onto a concrete flor in Cambodia from a height of about 2 m and still perfect). There are a few times when I would have liked the extra stop and in fact may even trade it in on the 24 - 70 L 2.8 Dave Procter uses a 24 - 70 and loves his.

I debated a long time between the 24-70L F2.8 and the 24-105L IS F4. I finally decided the lighter weight, IS and extra reach were more important for the majority of my use than the extra speed. I had some doubts initially, but after using the 24-105L for awhile, I'm now certain I made the correct choice for me.

I also have the 28-300L, and it too is an excellent all around lens. I have used it alot, but if I will be carrying the camera and lens all day, such as when walking around as a tourist in a new city, I will usually opt for the 24-105L because the 28-300L is just too heavy for me to carry continously for more than 3 or 4 hours. Nevertheless, you can't beat the 28-300L for flexibility, and don't let anyone tell you that this lens is handicapped because it is a 10x zoom. It is in every respect an L lens and delivers the IQ expected from L lenses.

My favorite L in my collection is by far my 35 f/1.4

Go for the primes. You won't regret it. There is nothing sharper.

24 - 105 L , but if you can afford the 28 -300 "the beste lens ever build in this range". But a little bit big...

Agree 24-105L any time as a good all round, my 2nd favourite is the 28-300 DO lens its small but does not really give a good wide angle with my 50D examples onpbase

I have the 24-105L, best lens ever, you will find all L,s great- I can,t see investing in a single focal when the zooms are so good
because you will always grab the zoom because of the flexibility---but i do own the 300/4 and love it, and thinking about a 85 mm

The advice is, of course, to really think about what you are shooting the most and wat focal length you miss. Check your archive to see at what focal lenght most of your shots are taken. When you know that add in criteria such as maximum aperture needed and whether it needs to be supersharp. That way you'll reduce your list to 3-6 lenses. Check those lenses on the varoius lens test websites and search for reviews and comments. That will probably leave you with a choice between two lenses. Finally go into your favourite store that stocks both and test drive them, feel them.

Depends on what you want to shoot I suppose. I bought the 28-135 (used) before going on a trip to London and Paris. Totally regret the purchase but love the focal length coverage. I ended up buying the 24-105 f4L and haven't regretted it. Awesome IQ, great colors/contrast and my pictures in Paris were perfect (for me at least).
