Polaroid Transfers Digitally?

Post Tue Feb 15, 2005 10:44 pm

I do quite a lot of Polaroid processes. I was recently asked if the transfers/lifts could be done (simulated) digitally. I did some web searching and found the following information:

Auto FX Photo/Graphic Edges 6

Transfer effect digitally

Go down the page pretty far.

The Transfer effect digitally emulates the wet and unpredictable Polaroid transfer process, but with total digital control. You can even brush on wrinkles or remove them, as you like. I chose a background paper from Photo/Graphic Edges 6’s 1000 surface textures.

Can be purchased here $179.

Photo/Graphic Edges 6.0 is a suite of 14 photographic effects that empower anyone, regardless of experience, to give images a unique, artistic look. By giving your images shape and dimension you can add interest and appeal to your work.

This new version of Photo/Graphic Edges includes dozens of new features and effects. PGE 6 includes SmartLayers (tm), Visual Layer Presets, Brush Effects, Unlimited Undo and lots of new creative content.

Photo/Graphic Edges 6.0 includes a stand-alone imaging application as well as a plug-in that works with Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro and Corel Draw.

A little more about the transfer effect.

They have a demo you can down load.

ON A LIST: I FOUND THIS:
QUESTION: Can you simulate lifts digitally?

ANSWER: Yes you can - using a texture filter for the paper and wrinkle effect using displacement map, distort filters, but it's a lot of effort. It's a whole article needed to explain this, but I have seen it done and written about in magazines over the years.

Has anyone tried this software approach. If yes, do you have examples to show.

Thanks
Rene

Just found Photoshop tutorial for creating wet and dry transfers digitally. I have not tried it yet, but will post when I do. Also shows SX-70 how to, but that seems a bit lame to me.
