how to make collages

Post Thu Oct 21, 2004 5:42 am

what I want to do is make pictures to mail as postcards
with several of my vacation/holiday pictures on one postcard like a collage you used to make in school with the cut and past on poster boards of pictures out of magazines.
I would like to somehow blend the pictures together or blur the edges from one pic to the next

hope this sounds right and you understand what I'm looking for

I just bought the photoshop cs progam
and have what ever is on my computer XP

thanks
Rachel

A quick Google search for "collage photshop" produced several hits including this one, which seems to be what you are looking for:

Collages

I have found Microsoft Digital Imaging (Picture It!) to be very useful in creating collages. I have a gallery with collages I have created: http://www.pbase.com/renae_nick/non_protected_collages

Let me know if I can help....Renae

What I do is place all images in their own layer. I then use the move tool to place the focal point of each image where I want it viewed at on the collage/montage. At that point I then set the erasor tool for a soft edge brush and at about 25%. I also set the size I want to create a blended edge. I then just go from layer to layer blending the edged of each image to taste so they kind of fade from one focal point to the next.
