Anybody who can advice in what they think is necessary plug ins for PS elements? In other words what will enhance the program to a "next level" without spending a fortune on 7.0/CS.

A large number of people don't even use filters.. So bringing it to the next level is really subjective.

I like "Flaming Pears" stuff for creativity. http://www.flamingpear.com

And I like Focal Blade (http://www.thepluginsite.com/)

One great site is run by Adobe.. Lots of free stuff on it.
http://share.studio.adobe.com/Default.asp great for when you need an effect quickly.

You could also look at Fred Miranda's new Intellisharpen II which is now compatible with Elements. Go to http://www.fredmiranda.com and go to Software. Any of Fred's plug ins and actions are well worth the small amount of money he is asking. Intellisharpen makes sharpening quick and easy.

maybe try a new book?

I bought this book when I bought PSE2, "The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2" by Richard Lynch. The book helped me to realize that this program is probably limited only by my not understanding how digital photographs are put together.

You can add a lot of useful features that the full photoshop version has. I have a lot of add-ins that I got from Richard Lynch, although I rarely use them anymore. You can do most everything you want to do with the basic PSE2, maybe everything. The book comes with a cd of the add-ins you want but you might get some for free off of his website.

Link to book at amazon:
