Anybody using the Gimp?

Post Thu Aug 28, 2003 12:32 am

Well, crap, I was going to link to http://www.gimp.org/ , but it appears they've taken the site offline as a protest against software patents in Europe.

I guess Adobe and Jasc are happy about this...

Here you can find all files for MS Windows.

I'm using GIMP in Linux, very convenient interface and powerful tools. But works with 8 bit RGB only (no CYMK support).

I too use the Gimp, usually on Linux but also occasionally in windows, there is another version of the Gimp, used by some in Hollywood for editing their films, can handle 8/16/32-bits of color per channel (up to 128-bits RGBA) info can be found here cinepaint

GIMP

:D GIMP kicks ass. I discovered it back in my Linux days (now im an OS X user). I still like photoshop better but for when I am doing some special effects GIMP kicks ass. It has a lot of the basic functions that photoshop uses, but the best part is that it is free. Check out http://www.gimp.org they have versions for Linux, Unix, Mac, and even Windows.

Now, I need to just get configure to run and locate GTK on my SUSE 9.1 installation.... I'm willing to give cinepaint a shot.
