Some resize tool easy to use

Post Fri Sep 12, 2008 8:07 am

Hi guys, I normally take my pictures in large format, but I would like to have some tool to resize down the pictures (by folder preferably instead that picture by picture) in order to upload to PBase , i.e. to go 800x600...that exists?
I have installed Photoshop CS2 and I can't find the way to use that feature, if exists.

thanks all!

You can do batch resizing in Photoshop by creating an action and using the Fit Image function (File -> Automate -> Fit Image) to set the maximum height and width. You can then run the action on the folder or folders of your choice. I can create a video showing how to do this if other Photoshop users are interested. It may sound complicated but it's actually quite easy.

Here's a video for resizing in PS, if you can follow it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33lHsuRa0CY

Powertoys image resizer works very well. Go to

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx

You'll find the link by scrolling down the page - look in the right column near the bottom. It works fine in Vista too. It'll do a whole folder of shots and there's a bit of control as to the resolution. You select the files and right click, then select Resize Image, or is it Image Resize - anyway, you'll find it OK. Only thing is, I don't think it sharpens. For that you need a more advanced tool.
