NEF RAW in CS2

why wont my version of CS2 (9.0.2 - just updated it) open NEF images from my D300??

Have you downloaded and installed the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw so the format is supported?

If you have not got the answer yet, Adobe is not going to make NEF for D300 available for CS2, you need CS3, or else just the nikon capture nx

Try BreezeBrowzer Pro and a solution. Its the cheapest way to stay up to date with RAW formats.

The cheapest way is to download the latest Adobe DNG converter and convert your D300 files then they will open in CS2..this way is free .
