Working with layers in CS2

Post Tue Nov 27, 2007 5:36 pm

I am new to the Photoshop thing, and trying to basically cut a part of one image, call it the subject, and insert it into a second image. Not sure if this is possible.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Kelly,

I've found that having a book on CS2 handy was very helpful to me when I first got it - when I was ready to experiment with other things in Photoshop it was right there for me. What you want to do is really quite easy.

The other option is to google CS2 Tutorials or Photoshop tutorials and you'll get a number of sites that have free tutorials on a wide variety of things you can do with PS and I'm sure selecting from one and adding the selection to another image will be right there.

Just my thoughts on the matter. (Must be getting cold in your neck of the woods by now.)

Kelly, also, I link to some free tutorials online for Photoshop.

Layers is what you will be looking for, but I see you knew that
from your title.

photomary's right that a good Photoshop book at your side
(examine them in book stores to see which might fit your needs
best -- I like lots of white space and lots of Step1, Step2, Step3
type of writing) will help a lot.

I just looked at your thumbnails. I would think you'd already
used Photoshop since the pics look unusually nice.

Thanks to you both for the reply. I appreciate it. I get the feeling that Photoshop does 500 things and I need 6 of them. Let the learning begin.

Thanks for the compliment as well Andrys. The most I have really gotten into w/ PS is basic color/contrast/sharpening. Lots to learn first with the camera, then maybe not as much with PS..

Thanks again.
