colorizing black and white

Post Sun Jun 10, 2007 10:41 pm

hello everyone,

right i am sure most people would want to know the best way to colorize black and white photo, i didn't get any answer for my question here but i am happy to say i got what i want elsewhere their tutorials are the bomb they are as good as vikki hansen colorizing well that's where she actually learn her colorizing any rod. if she can do it so can i. the tip is to use a very clear picture the newer the photo the better. i have already experiment with an old but brand new black and white photo contrast is crystal clear the photo turned out very good compare to the way i have colorize an old black and white photo before, if your old photo is blurr the colour won't be as good, first try to adjust the level of your photo the sharper the better, any i've said enough. but i am a very happy and i shall experiment more with my colorize.

Sergio, here are some resources I have used.

Colorized Picture of my mother

Used this technique.
Primary Colorizing http://www.worth1000.com/tutorial.asp?sid=161015

Another colorized picture of my mother. I liked this method better.

I can't seem to locate the tutorial. It used curve layers to add in the color. If I find it, I will come back and post it. JUST FOUND IT! http://www.worth1000.com/tutorial.asp?sid=161018&page=1
This is a bit harder, but I felt it was worth the effort.

Here are a few more that I got ideas from. http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/Colori-e-Old-Photos-Using-Layermasks-21591-1.html

Colorization Made Easy (by Keb)
Colorization Using Gradient Maps - have not tried this one, but it seems interesting.

I have this book.

Hope this help.

Colorize black and white photo

Post Tue Jun 12, 2007 8:17 pm

Hi halesr,

Many thanks for your reply after receive no reply in this forum regarding my thread about colorize blk and white photo when i saw your thread it brought tears to my eyes that someone actually took time to reply to my post. i am new to photoshop and i've been experimenting with all the tools, after some battering insults from another forum regarding my crappy colorize works as they are obviously not as good as vikki hansen i was told, which i know vikki is a thousand world apart from me but to compare a very newbie like me with vikki took me by surprise.

i am googling the web away for colorizing, i have done some colorize which i will post in this forum and i shall be ready for any comment good or bad.

again many thanks halesr your reply is valuable to me.

regards

sergio :)

Sergio, you are welcome. It took a while for me to reply as I had to find where I had stashed the info.

Yes, EXPERIMENT and have fun. I just muck around until I get something I like. We all have to start somewhere.
