paintshop pro 9 help needed

Hello guys. I wonder if someone here can help me with Paint Shop Pro 9.
my problem is that everytime i type some words on a pink background it always appear white instead of the usual black. i trying to type the words in normal arial black font;s but it won't allow me. what setting should i have in photoshop.thanks

Photoshop or Paintshop - you mentioin both. There should be a colour palette under the tools on the left. Select the option for text and do what you need. Use the colour palette and change whatever you need.

I do not understand that statement as Paintshop Pro9 is a image editing program like Photoshop!

I agree I have been using Paintshop for years.....I never draw.
Does everyting I need without all the frills and $$
