Here is a good review of free album software

http://www.thephotofinishes.com/catalogs.htm has a good review of free catalog and review software. While wired rates the online services quickly here -> http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.08/start.html?pg=9. Many of these services offer free album and organizer software as well. :D

Now if you want photo editing software as well - most of the tools above offer elementary photo editing -> image crosp, rotation, and simple full image color and brightness corrections. You may have to go get a free photo editor like Gimp or Irfan view. Google these names for more info.

if you have Linux you can use

dcraw: to transorm raw file to jpeg/tiff
digikam: http://www.digikam.org
ufraw: based on dcraw

Also Lightzone is free for Linux, but not for Windows and Mac

Is there one that handles keywords as well
At least the option to search on the IPTC fields but if you can also edit the fields that will be a plus

Thanks

If you have a Mac, GIMP is very good. For a PC something called PhotoPlus works well. I believe Photo Plus 6 is a free download.

Have you tried Picajet photo organizer? Very promising photo tool with ability to write XMP info into DNG files. Plus dozen other "must-have" features which unbeatable by other photo management softwares. I tried many other organizers and no one of them so closely fit to my needs in photo cataloguing. There are several minor suggestion but PJ support team very responsibility and I hope my minor requirements like supporting for Sony SR2 files will be added soon.

You can find any type of software, including photo, firewalls, antivirus and music for windows that's FREE, or has free trials without taking a chance on clicking spammers links at Windows Market Place here:
http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/
It's also a good place because I've never gotten a virus from there, and you can compare all the best programs in one place. Saves a lot of running around.
