Textures and borders

Post Thu Jun 08, 2006 10:47 pm

Can anyone reccomend a good web based resource (preferably free), where I can get my hands on some nice textures and borders. Wanting to do something a bit more rough using some nice creases and perhaps a polaroid border, but can't seem to find too many options on line.

Thanks,
Dominic.

Have you tried brushes. I can give you a link to some brushes that help.

I have to look it up, but I have a link to some downloads for edges.

Here is some information on brushes.

I found this great FREE download of photoshop brushes. I used the scratches one to distress the leaves a bit. I actually found this when searching for information on how to make a photo look aged and scratched. But these brushes do A LOT more and it was soooooooooo easy. Here is the info on the brushes.

I just read about this product in the September 2006 Shutterbug magazine.

----
Sloppy Borders (Price $125) have always been a favorite way to present images in the old days of film. But with digital, this cool retro look is much more difficult to achieve. Kubota Image Tools has done all the hard work and created a simple package of over 100 ready to use sloppy border variations that anyone with Photoshop CS or newer can use.

Kevin Kubota and Craig Strong, of Strong Photography and Lensbabies, LLC, went into the darkroom and individually printed the borders, using a variety of filed out negative carriers (the traditional way). Then, they were scanned at high resolution, and digitally prepared for overlay on any image. Then, Kubota created powerful scripts to quickly and effortlessly size the border to match the images. The result: an easy way to instantly apply the border to any image - no matter the size, cropping, or orientation.

These borders don't necessarily have to be used on full-frame images, however, other standard crops work as well. Borders can be added to one image at a time, or can be run in a batch to apply the border to a folder full of images. These borders are excellent for online presentations or slide shows. Also included is a special bonus Action that automatically creates 4x6 proofs with sloppy borders for printing.

Users can also create their own sloppy border scans and use them with our scripts, provided the image format matches our included templates.

BONUS Sloppy colorizer action:

Add personalized color to your sloppy border background with our newly included sloppy colorizer action, included as an separate action in our sloppy pak.

System Requirements:

Mac or Windows
Adobe Photoshop CS or newer

I really like the looks of the borders. There does not appear to be a trial download. But they might be something to check out.
