RAWshooter essentials

however, i know many folks who do and they all swear it's way "better". what i don't like about Photoshop's "Adobe Raw" (CS, not CS2) is it is very weak in terms of features. i personally would never use a raw converter that didn't provide Levels and Curves (like Capture One, and perhaps RawShooter i don't know, but it was developed by the same folks who did Capture One so...it might).
i also know many folks who love Photoshop (it is by far the most popular raw conversion program...mostly because "everyone" has it...or Elements).
my suggestion is to download the free trial and play with it awhile (Capture One LE is also a good alternative, with a free trial as well).
i think the "best" raw converter is the one you are most comfortable with.
it took me only 5 minutes with Capture One for me to realize it was "better" for me than Photoshop CS. (this was a few years ago...).

I use RSE when I need tyo quickly batch process a lot of raw files. It guives quick and quite good results and has some good features and controls, I also use it all the time to sort through my raw files in order to select the keepers
For my one of a kind shots I use Raw Magick Lite which gives much more control over the final result but takes a long time to learn, process and convert
Posted: Thu Jun 15, 2006 11:39 amI used Raw Shooter Essentials and have to say that the results and handeling is much better than the RAW plug in for CS 2. To work with Raw Shooter you have to practice but the result is very good. At the moment I use Capture 4.0 (Nikonprogram) and that program does work also great !!! 
Posted: Thu Jun 15, 2006 7:08 pmI had RawShooter Premium as my default raw converter, but since I use Potoshop CS2 (only for a couple of weeks) I tend to return to ACR...
Especially for portraits I just like ACR's conversion better.
With respect to workflow, I like Rawshooter better, most of the times I don't need Photoshop anymore...
I still use RSP/RSE to quickly download, rename and select my keepers.

I was just about to say "I don't use RSE, I use PSE 3.0's Raw". Guess I will be using RSE in a future upgrade. . .
