creating DVD movies of photos

Post Mon Feb 27, 2006 5:33 am

I don't know if this is the best place to post a question regarding creating DVD movies from photos. I did a search and found nothing already posted.

I have a friend who used Pinnacle version 9 to create DVDs. I take my photos to his house, I create a DVD movie with music soundtrack. Each DVD has about 1000 photos and takes about an hour to play with the music. I now have my own computer fast enough to do this.

Other programs are available. There is also Adobe Premier elements. I need to be able to time the photos to the music.

Does anyone have any comments? Does anyone have any advice? Does anyone have any preferences?

http://www.photodex.com/products/proshowgold/

Quite a few of the uk based photo mags recomended this. It seems to do what you are looking for and has a trial too.
I have dabbled with proshow and found it fairly easy to work with.

Slide Show Generator

You may want to consider the IDVD program that is bundled with Macintosh computers. Now, if you don't have a MAC, at least think of getting one the next time you replace the PC.

I did check out the web site for third party products. They run about $50 in general. iDVD "works for me".

Don't know if this will help, but my Roxio DVD burning software allows you to create a photo slide show with music. I think this is pretty basic as it comes with the software. I have only burned one and did not need music.

I have also see ProShow Gold mentioned as a good choice.

@ sunshine_photo

You seem to be a spammer, only trying to sell software via pbase. You joined a few days ago and have no photos posted.

I should say AnvSoft is a fair choice. What makes me like this program is its easy-to-use interface and process design.

I like the elegant, clear-cut interface and the good slideshow it makes. There are abundant of transition effects. You can even dub the slideshow with built-in recorder. What’s more, you can add video clips to the photo slideshow!

There are minor bugs though, for instance, in Organize Photos->Text framework, there’s a blank box which turns out to be Text Brush! Why not show a caption Text Brush?

One more thing, DPS provides only basic photo enhancements. We don’t expect it to be as powerful as Adobe Photoshop and other professional photo editing tools. But it would be better to contain some filters and effects, like red-eye-rescue, emboss, blur, engrave, smooth, negative, etc. These may help to make our photo album more art-look-like.

It's available in most of the software download sites like http://www.download.com and http://www.softpedia.com

Or you can go to their official website to download the program at http://www.anvsoft.com
