Masks in jpg pictures disappeared in preview in explorer

I have jpg pictures on which there are masks.
But when I preview the pictures in thumbnail view with windows explorer, the masks are not seen.
Photoshop editing software used is Photoshop 3.0
How can this be possible ?
Is there a way that somebody can remove the masks from the picture?
