Handpaint B&W with PSP 9

Post Mon Aug 29, 2005 12:04 pm

I have seen several discussions about "coloring" black and white images using PS. Anyone out there using PSP 9 to color b&w images? I have done it but I think I am probably going about it the hardway. Without going into all the details basically I use two images of the same photo, turn one to b&w and then clone the color image and "paint" the areas on the b&w image that I want colored. Can be a pain in the lower region of the body, but it works. Anyone using a different method? Thanks in advance for responses.

My method is similar, but slightly different.

I clone the image & change one copy to B&W. I then paste the B&W one as a new layer over the colour one (CTRL-L). Then, use the eraser to remove parts of the B&W & expose the coloured one below. You can adjust the hardness, opacity, etc, of the eraser as you can with any other brush.

Hope this helps :D
