Picasa 3 on Linux?

Post Tue May 24, 2005 6:33 am

This is quite an interesting question for y'all. :D

Basically the only photo manipulation programs on Linux are the GIMP, Bibble Pro, or 80% of PS: CS.

And everyone knows Picasa is cool. What do you all think? Cedega? Or full source?

There has been a lot of good press for GIMP. Concerning PS CS, I suppose it is the 20% that is missing :?

There is also digiKam. It is at http://digikam.sourceforge.net

What I like about it is the fact that it has a "red-eye" fix.

I have the same problem. I want to use Fedora and ditch Microsuck but then I have issues with photo editing. I love Photoshop and Picasa but nether are available on Linux and I am just not a fan of GIMP. I am about to give up on this task and buy a Mac with Photoshop.

Linux graphics - Cinepaint

Post Fri Sep 02, 2005 2:38 pm

What about Cinepaint? I've read some good reviews of it's capabilities; and have recently installed it. I would love to get away from the $$$$ upgrades for Photoshop; but I'm new to Linux. I'm sure there are ways to automate tasks like PS CS but have not gotten that far yet. Even though Cinepaint is a "Movie editor"; it works for tiff, png, etc.

It seems like all the editors lose Canon EXIF information; so I've been using a utility which pastes the EXIF data back to edited pictures. This is a REAL drag. Any suggestions here?
