Check out these pictures of my pug Jake. I find him hard to photograph because he is black. Close-ups seem to turn out better. I guess shots further away expose backgrond and not him, but they don't look too good. What do you think? Please let me know.

Pugs rock, no doubt about it.
My friend's was named Pugasus. It used to make all the nasty gurgling/wheezing sounds. What a personality!

Anyhooo.... I'm left wanting to see more of Jake than just his chin to his forehead. How about some more varied shots, different poses, situations, etc? Facial expressions are nice, but there's no context to make it into a story.

For shoooting a black dog I recommend using a dark background, darker the better. He'd look great in black & white too. Have fun with it!
