Great Counter - A LOT of information for YOUR pbase site

Post Fri Nov 28, 2003 8:07 pm

If anyone is as html challenged as I am this is a really great way to put a counter on your site that tells you who came to your site, where from (ISP), what country they were from (even shows a map), how many hits per day, etc, etc, etc. etc - and it's all free :-)

Check out my page here http://pbase.com/rsilfverberg to see how it looks once you've activated it (it's the small greenish icon).

If you wanna get one, go to http://www.nedstatbasic.net

I have no affiliation with these people - just thought it was a really cool product I wanted to share with you.

Let me know if you do install it - I can be a 'hit' on your counter :-)

Oh - and once installed you get your own Nedstat site where you can check your statistics. There you can also check HOW - which will tell you from what LINK people came to your site from... So if you have a lot of direct links to a page on your site. Install this counter there - and see what links people use to get to your page :-)

First hit - China

Post Fri Nov 28, 2003 8:36 pm

And just after having posted this forum entry I got my first hit to my site at http://pbase.com/rsilfverberg

I can see that the person got to my page by the link in this forum (as it gives the URL the person clicked on to get there) - and it turned out that the person is from China and is using Windows XP, 1024x768 resolution and Internet Explorer 6.x

Thanks for visiting :-)

Thanks - now Asia is coloured in on the 'hit-map' :-)

Thanks for that, it is very easy to set up. Even though I can't think of any use for these statistics, somehow I know I am going to be fascinated by them! The monitor resolution one will be interesting.

Ive been using these for a while now and they make very interesting reading, especially some of the searches that people do to find my pages!

Looks like a good idea. I'm a bit new to this - do you paste the html script that is sent by netstat into the description block when you are editing your own gallery, and then check the html box?

Yup...that will do it.

Doesn't seem to work for me. I've put the code that was e-mailed by Nedtat into the description box for the gallery, checked the "contains html" but alas nothing. It's probably something very obvious that I'm doing wrong but i can't figure it out.

I wish I could help but I know nothing about code. I just copy and pasted the code from the nedstat site and then did as you did and it worked fine. I am sure someone will help you out in a giffy though. Maybe you can try to copy and paste it like I did instead. You never know it may work for you too. Maybe the code is different or something. Just click the make counter thingy and look around for the show html tab when you are finished. I pasted the code at the end of the text.

Cheers

There are errors in the html. Are you sure you pasted it exactly like it was in the email? It looks like you're missing part of the IMG tag.

Thanks for the comments.
I just cut a pasted the section of code from the Nedstat e-mail. I'll start afresh and see what happens.
Cheers!

Ah! I cut the code from the Nedstat site instead of the e-mail and it looks like it works.

This counter is a great share, thank you! However, I viewed other people's sources and place the code in the same spot and nothing is happening. Can someone give me some coaching? Not sure what I am doing wrong!

Thanks,
