Return to The Wave! (Coyote Buttes)

Post Fri Nov 21, 2003 1:49 pm

I had the pleasure to return to the Coyote Buttes a few days ago.
Looking forward to the challenge of re-shooting an area which had
frustrated me somewhat on my previous venture (see galleries),
I was unsure on just how well I would capture this amazing place.

In short - it was one of the best days of my life!

One funny story associated with this trip. I brought along my
35mm film gear in addition to my G2 to help visualize and capture
images composing in bright sun in the tiny G2 viewfinder or the
display was a continuous aggrivation the first time around). Upon
reaching the area (a 3 mile hike) I discovered I had forgotten to bring
any film for my camera!. Oh well - looks like I've been with digital
toooo long!

Let me know what you think of these images if you have a moment -
I'm always trying to improve on my technique and visualization...

Brian

Thanks for the comments, Scott. You'll find the Coyote Buttes about
half way between Page, AZ, and Kanab, UT.
Visitation to the area is very restricted - they only allow 20 people a day into the area (10 from each trailhead), and reservations must be made at least 7 months in advance. Next day permits might be available - but these frequently go very fast. They do not issue same-day permits.
Hope you find your way there soon - Brian
