I spent the weekend trying to figure out how to have a professional looking Title on the first galleries page - unsuccessfully, I am afraid. Will a kind person please type exactly what I need to have in the description part of the edit page. This is the heading I would like to have:

"Susan Breen Photography and Digital Art"

Font: Matisse and pt 16- 20

Can someone please help?

Thank you,
Susan

Hey Susan:
The thing is that while I can give you the CSS code to add your title, not everyone has the Matisse font installed on their computer, so the CSS will substitute for the next available font or default font, which you may not like as much.

You could do what I did...create a title in a photo editing program - I use Paint Shop Pro. So then you can simply upload the title jpeg to a non-public gallery...I have one called backgrounds.

For an idea here's my Title image saved as a transparent background GIF file. You don't have to use a transparent GIF if you know what your background color will be. You can start with 800 x 65 pixel or whatever you feel comfortable with. The advantage of the transparent GIF is that the text comes out nice on whatever background design you use. It's a little weird in it's use, though. You upload it as a GIF but as you can see below you call it a .jpg, otherwise it won't display.

I then open my gallery edit page and add to the description box,

Code: Select all
<TD align=middle><http://www.pbase.com/pinemikey/image/94198760.jpg></TD>

Also, you can see that the transparent GIF isn't totally transparent. So it is up to you to maybe use a background color for the title that will match your gallery background color.

Susan,
As the saying goes:- "more ways to skin a cat."

I first tried to create something using M$ Paint program but it becomes pixilated after being saved, and I wanted something with more smoothed edges. Not having a graphic program, here's what I did. I basically followed the same route as pinemikey.

Using M$ WordArt that is part of M$ Word, I created what I wanted. Leaving the final results on the monitor, I took a picture of it, resized it to 800 x 120 pixels, and uploaded that image. It's now the very first item called out with html code in the 'description' field of the root gallery 'edit' page, as <DIV ALIGN=CENTER><http://www.pbase.com/image/x-your image number here-x.jpg
The result is here on my root gallery page. http://www.pbase.com/10kzoomfz
