"recent" images can be viewed by anyone even when

At the root gallery I changed my family gallery images to be all 'UNavailable to be viewed by anyone', so that I can control who sees them (give specific URL to galleries).

I went to another computer to test the view and of course no images or galleries are there, BUT I noticed that if you click on "RECENT" at the top of the page it shows ALL galleries and recent uploads. It's all there as if no controls!

Can "recent" be removed or how does one deal with anyone being able to view images just by clicking on "recent".

If you're referring to the link to "recent" galleries within YOUR PERSONAL galleries:
Huh, that's peculiar. None of my "private" galleries have ever shown up on that page, no matter whether I'm logged in or out.
If you're reffering to the GLOBAL list of recent galleries:
