Dashes between title names

For quite a while now when I upload images dashes are inserted between the words in a file name.

Any way to get rid of those so I don't have to delete them after uploading?

Toward the end of this old but updated thread http://form.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=32807 in the Features Request forum section there is a discussion about the IPTC data in a file being loaded into the caption and title fields. Of course, you still have to put the information in those fields.

Funny, when I first became entangled with computers, a file name beginning with a numeral or with any spaces in it was not permitted. I believe what we see as a space in a filename today is actually passed over the Internet as some sort of escape sequence code, not a simple space. I suppose it might be possible for the PBase uploading to translate that, but there's not much enhancement around this place of late. I've never noticed this bit with the spaces because being an olde guy, I put an underscore in the file name where we might want a space!

That doesn't seem to tell me how to get rid of the dashes and leaves out the dashes in the dates
