Don't Save for Web in Photoshop as this apparently deletes your EXIF. I compress my images with Fred Miranda's actions - http://www.fredmiranda.com. I'm sure someone out there can answer your question as to what to use in PS.

Simply save as

In PS, if you use "Save As" and choose jpg, you will then be prompted for the amount of compression to use. Saving in this manner does not strip EXIF data like using "Save For Web" does.

Curt

Sheila, which FM action do you use for downsizing? WP? WP Pro? Which version? Do it work well?

I have WP v1.2 and the resulting images are very fuzzy after it does the last resize.

Thanks, David

PS, as I'm sure you are all aware, strips the EXIF information from your images when doing a "Save for Web". However, the EXIF information can be copied to your compressed image from the original using the excellent BreezeBrowser from http://www.breezesys.com The compressed image must be in a seperate folder from the original and have the same file name for it to work. I find the "Save for Web" facility offers better compression than "Save As", I guess it's doing the job it was intended for. Perhaps PS 8 will have the option to retain EXIF info.

P.S. The Dowloader is worth having a look at which is also available from Breezssys.com particuarly if using a card reader.

Hi David

I have Fred's CSPro which is a sharpening action from "very low intensity" up to "high" and also has the ability to compress from 1000 pixels down to 400 pixels. For PBase I usually compress down to 640 which is fairly low res. I find Fred's actions a great time saver but they only work on Photoshop 6 and above. Amongst the various actions are black and white conversion (including sepia) and digital velvia and many more. I highly recommend them if you want to spend less time in front of the PC and more time out shooting images!

Cheers
