Pins not being placed on map

It appears that Pbase is reading the GPS of JPEGs but it is no longer 'pinning' the photo to the position.

I recently uploaded this photo: http://www.pbase.com/image/162362296 and if I zoom in, the position is correct but the pin is not there..

The pins from my previous shots do appear, not sure how long this has been going on, I just happened to check after switching to GeoSetter for placing location in EXIF (it works great).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Lou, there are lots of issues with the current pbase mapping solution. Some are due to the code not recognizing the latest versions of browsers - especially IE10 and IE11. You might want to scan through these two posts:

Thanks for the advice Richo.

I've read through those threads but didn't see read a problem that dealt with a 'pinning' problem. I am curious if other users are experiencing the same.
I've been using Chrome as my browser since it was released.

I just tried it both by uploading a JPG with GPS embedded and manually adding a pin to a photo without it. Both of those tests were successful. However, I was logged in of course and I doubt that the pin will work for someone not logged into pbase.com.

Thanks for testing that out Richo!

If any users are having a problem w/ the GPS info not 'pinned' to the map, lemme know. I've not had a problem in the 15+ years I been using Pbase with this anomaly.

Thanks!
LouM

Thanks for the reply, Amoxti,
Though, I looked at some of my 2015 photos and they are 'pinned' correctly..

Yes - older photos have pins correctly placed, newer photos have general location but are not pinned.

Thank you.

There is a problem in the code that is likely due to updates in the Google Maps API that the current pbase code does not handle. It started with visitors being shown the wide view and not being drilled down to the street level view where the pin is located. For sometime if you were logged in as a pbase user it worked, but now that does not seem to even work. Some of us have come to realize that virtually no one from the pbase staff monitors these forums. If they do they have yet to acknowledge that they do. Your best bet and honestly not a very good one is to email support@pbase.com. If the mapping is really crucial then I suggest the alternatives I mentioned in previous thread using Google Maps links. These seem to work but take more time to create. ;)

Thanks for the congruent reply, Richo.

Makes sense to me.
