how do I remove some members' images from my view

Firstly I am not advocating censorship and I personally do use NSFW labelling for any personal work that appears to fit that standard. That is another topic but not the one I would like to ask about here.
I would just prefer to not have some individual's new images appear when I browse new galleries. I don't mean see or not see NSFW labelled work, just to filter specific member's images whether they be of cute kittens or tapioca or anything else.
I found a reference to a friends and foes setting and tried putting one member on a 'foes' list. However the galleries still appear after I close and reopen.
