I cannot say I know any firm answer to that, but your question prompted me to look at your remarkable galleries. You have some amazing work out there and I hope you keep going for a long time!

My inner cynic says given the general response to problems here, your galleries might outlast you by a few years or even a decade or more.

Legacy is an area that is beginning to draw more attention with all the personal websites and social networking activity going on these days. Such as perhaps one should have a list of sites one has, and passwords, to entrust to a spouse/friend/child to be able to go in and clean up or take down -- or even continue -- after one goes away. I know on a few forums I have a long time history with, it might be nice if someone wrote in and explained my disappearance. APUG, the analog photography forum actually has an In Memoriam section where the passing of some members has been recognized, including some who have passed much too soon -- motorcycle accidents, etc.

Thank you Dave, my pBase galleries are the work of a lifetime, my testament.
Sorry for my laconic English, as you saw my language is another.

Hi Adalberto,

In March of 2008 a friend of mine and fellow local photographer Kent Nelson passed away. Everybody called him "Lion". His galleries and all his images are still on PBase as far as I can tell.

So chances are your galleries will stay on PBase. You may want to write to Emily to be sure though.

Best Regards,
Walter

Thanks for the idea of contacting Slug and Emily Walter.
By the way, Francis Toussaint died many years ago, he was a pioneer and a "pillar" of pBase.
His wonderful galleries are still visible, and I know nobody pays for him.

Best to you Walter

Well, in any case I have Heraclitus' Light, my testament gallery in which I unchain my love for light
hoping my eyes will remain open for many years...

A number of PBase accounts have disappeared over time. Whether they have been removed by their owners or deleted because the subscriptions have expired is unclear. Maybe PBase retains some expired accounts on a discretionary basis.

Well, my wife and myself have separate Pbase names. We have each others passwords. When one dies, the other can keep the galleries alive with a notation added about the death of the person. You never know for sure when your time will be up. We want the other living mate, keep the deceased images up here. If we go together, I guess that it will not much matter. It is a lot of work, editing images, then posting them on Pbase. We want our images to last as long as they can on Pbase. We think that much about Pbase.

I plan on leaving enough in my Will to keep my site running well after I'm gone.

I am not a lawyer. With that being said, my understanding of current law in the US is that it prohibits PBase from releasing the control of the account to family members unless arrangement has been made before you go.

Do you really care?

Does it actually matter?

For those concerned about this maybe a trust fund is in order. Immortality is not with out its costs.

Great question my friend. How about this: Keep taking photos, keep posting, keep hoping, keep loving, keep believing, keep wanting the best for everyone in this world from the United States rocketing outward to reach every last inch of land on this planet.

Take pictures, post pictures: DO IT.

HOPE to all.

Has anyone ever had a forum question or an email to PBase answered?
I have not in over a decade here.

Best of luck!
