Comments gone missing.

Post Sat Nov 02, 2013 8:36 am

A few days ago I had 602 comments about my images and now I have 600, this seems rather strange.

Your not alone John, I too am missing a few, 3 to be exact.

Not really concerned about the comments themselves, but with little hiccups seaming to be a normal occurrence of this site, I sometimes wonder if the system might someday have a serious coughing fit.

What else can be said except, "this is Pbase."

Hey everyone (that cares) - this situation now (Saturday 11/02/13 - 11:30 AM) appears to be corrected. I didn't even have to complain to the doctor this time. I just took an asprin and waited awhile.

I asked pbase to delete nine years worth of comments on my pages several months back, they did so yesterday.
They do a purge/reset each year - maybe your two comments gone missing is connected to that

Hey all,

We recently discovered that the script that keeps that comment count number properly updated was not running as it should. So, we got it running again and got caught up on changes. So, you probably did see a change in the number of comments, but no comments were actually deleted. The script just looks at your existing comments and updates the number to match the real data. I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Thanks,
Emily
