Something is really wrong with the stats.

I put this photo up yesterday.

http://www.pbase.com/kstuebin/image/121311638

According to the stats on the page it got 281 views. In one day??? When I click on "view full statistics," everything is zero. Since it has comments, I assume that is wrong as well.

And btw, what happened to little clock icon for the hourly views? Not that I want it but just curious.

Whatever program they wrote for this is a mess.

Just Wondering?
Before the big crash I had 40,000, or abouts, more page views on my root gallery than I do now. It doesn't mean anything to me...I like people to look at my pics, but the stats don't really run my ego....but...it's just strange. Any one else notice this strange phenomenon? It seems I lost some in total too throughout, although never really noticed exactly how many there were before the ship capsized...just seems like it. Like I say it doesn't matter much to me, some do use stats for various reasons (and google analytics etc. are better for that anyway)...but it just seems a bit strange, like maybe I dreamed it :)

I'm not sure about the hits before or after the crash, but I have noticed that both statcounter and Google Analytics have somehow had their access to the site restricted the last two days. I don't get no where as many hits as some here but I do average about 500 hits a day and those numbers more or less correspond to the Pbase stats, except on those huge search bot days where you can get triple the normal number of hits. The reason why I feel Pbase is doing something in the background and that is affecting the statcounter and Google Analytics scripts is that the Pbase aggregate stats, which seems to updated every two or three days now, reported the usual number of visits for the day that statcounter only showed something like 83.

Back to your question about losing hits, maybe what we're seeing is some retroactive stat counting Pbase is doing? We all agreed a few times that their numbers seemed a little high, especially on those wild search bot days. Maybe they have some script to recount and discard duplicates they are running, so the numbers are coming down to more like Google Analytics or statcounter were showing.

Just speculation on my part, however I wish whatever they were doing now would stop interfering with the statcounter and Google Analytics access to the website...as that would just about eliminate any reliable statistics for our galleries.
