Erich,
You know very well that when you post nudes and porn, you have 10 times (should I say 100 times) more page views.
Nudes ares used mostly by users to attract viewers (even if sometimes there are really good nude and even porn shots, with good light, composition, and all).
A simple filter, like in Flickr, could put some order into things.

Not speaking for my interest. But my site (without a single nude, and even portrait) on PBase has been shot down at work, years ago, because of the reputation of PBase. And this reputation is very (too) quickly acquired.

I too would favor some kind of filtering system...much as we all put clothes on when we go out in public

I can agree with a filter system of some kind. It makes sense for all. That is why I don't put a gallery representative nude image that shows up on Recent Galleries, and actually put a nudity warning in the gallery title. That way it is very obvious what is going to happen to the viewer if they click on the gallery. That's the only way I can think of to not have viewers surprised/shocked/repulsed, or reprimanded while viewing at work.

I have yet to see any kind of explanation on why galleries are not included in Recent Galleries due to nudity in this situation of clear communication, because it is obvious that when you click on it - that you're okay with it. And no, I don't do the PAD either.

I don't get it - the censorship seems pretty random - but also pretty specific... Is there a pbase person out there policing and requesting that my artistic nude galleries, that don't have a nude image show up on the Recent images and have a clear and consise title so nobody is surprised, are removed? (I won't even go into the argument for/against the nude human form in art. I know full well that won't get far in this artist community.)

If there is such a pbase police person - make yourself known and post in this thread with your explanation. Or is this an undercover deal?

Wow.

There used to be an admin on PBase named NoOutlet who was the only PBase admin ever known to at least attempt some form of regular communication with the members. Alas he's departed now, but I recall something that he said about this once; you can probably find the thread if you search for it.

The impression that he gave, though he didn't go into details, is that it is pretty random; a gallery will get pinged if either (a) someone complains about it or (b) one of the PBase admins notices it. He didn't give any indication of there being a structured search for them. In fact it would be all but impossible to do that; check the image numbers of two images that you upload a day apart to get some idea of how many photos are still being uploaded to PBase daily. No-one would have the time to view all of them.

An explanation??? About anything??? From PBase Admins now that NoOutlet is gone???

BWAAAA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!

Sorry, but that just tickled my funny bone.

I'm glad you found that funny. haha It is quite funny. Thanks for the reply and info.

I was hoping for any of the pbase users that have complained to the pbase management about my galleries to reveal themselves.

Nudity is quite natural..., not something to despise and be freaked about. Anyway, I agree with the earlier post that said you have to separate the nudity and pornography as so closely aligned in this thread title. They are not the same - I don't care who you ask.

Did I just type that? That was probably not accurate based on the OP's views...

Bye - I'm out.

Only in the "if you didn't laugh, you'd have to cry" sense, though.

Ah, I thought that you were asking for the Admins to explain what their criteria for acting to block a gallery is.

You probably won't get an answer either way; although I don't have numbers, I'd suggest that the proportion of PBase users who use the forums would be a minority of the total user base. If someone did complain about yours, chances are they won't have even seen your question.

If it had been about the Admins' criteria, well, "communication's not a strong point".

I'm a photo libertarian.

I respect your artistic choice to put anything you want in your own gallery.
If your photos bore or offend me, I'll go elsewhere.

I'm more offended by censorship than I am nudity.

Anyway, nudity is a part of natural beauty.
It's human.

Check out the Great Masters.
I wouldn't want them censored either.

This thread is really very typically prudish American! What is our hang up about the nake human body anyway? Our society really needs to lighten up a bit - I mean puleeeeeze! I have yet to see anything pornographic here on Pbase - nudes, yes.....artistically arranged human bodies, yes.....porno, NO! Granted I don't go searching for it. But many of these posts wreak of censorship. I suggest you tone this down - afterall there should be some artistic freedoms left here in America. When we start demanding our rights be taken away, then we are a people who deserve fewer right...ultimately none. And for those who are so dang hungup about the human body, look in the mirror - you own one! And it's beautiful! Be peace.

my heart bleeds for those who never see the sunrise and sunset,,the alpha the omega ..the beginning..the end,,every mourning i open mine eyes and touch myself ..behold I live ..another day ..to embrace the beauty of life..the birds ,,the flowers..the earth ..and all my eye's embrace...truly this is so amazing to live to breath ..to behold beauty

yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
