I just noticed I have a gallery with over 321000 hits and it is not a popular gallery.
What are the hit counts on the popular galleries?

Hit counts don't have anything to do with the popular galleries. Popular galleries are related directly to paid pbase members casting a vote for your gallery. Each member can only vote one time for a gallery. Usually galleries with good technical and/or artistic qualities float up the 90day and all-time lists.
