PBase Photos much lighter than in Photoshop Elements

Post Tue Dec 23, 2003 5:19 am

When I look at my photos in Elements, they look well saturated. After uploading them, they become much less saturated looking. I heard someone else mention that their photos look "milky" and I think this is a good way to describe my problem.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure you are looking athe "original" photo? Pbase creates small, medium and large versions of images you upload. Make sure you are comparing the original image on pbase.

For your case http://www.pbase.com/image/23700947/original is the original. Do compare this and let us know.

This is also the case with Photoshop 7 on my computer. Browsers see my pics differently than PS7 on my monitor, so I have made a custom color profile and added it to the menu to use when I work on a photo to be posted on the web. Just takes one click before starting, and the colors and tones match the web views.

Even the original size looks "milkier" than the PS Elements version.

I'll have to look into making a color profile -- I don't know if that's an option in PSE though.

Thanks,
Diane

Your photos are in Adobe 1998 color space

I'd bet that your original well saturated photos are in the Adobe 1998 RGB color space, which looks great within Photoshop, or when printed on an inkjet, but is washed out on the web. Convert the color space to sRGB before uploading and you should see a huge improvement.
