storage adjustment

I have purchased 300M. I want 100M more.
In the "choose amount of storage space" do I select 100M or 400M?
It seems like if it's additive and I select 100M, I'll be at 400M now but when my 1 year of 300M runs out I'll be suddenly at 100M.
Is this how it really works?

Yes, you need to buy 100 more meg to get to 400.
