DIRECT LINKS NOT WORKING

Post Thu Dec 11, 2003 1:13 pm

As of yesterday, 12-10-03, new direct links were not working for me. If I posted a photo linking from here to my journal on line, it showed up for like a second, then went to a red X. Is something going on here? Is anyone else having direct link issues?

hmmm, that one seems to work, but others have been appearing and vanishing intermittently.

Yes. Same for me. Some soft of redirect / load balancer problem on pbase's end. I'm getting Red Xs sometimes. Which is very bad, coz I have eBay auctions using my pbase files.

Most probably it is the problem of one of the load balanced machines acting up.

"Hi Lisa,

There is a problem with one of the machines that serves direct linked
images. I have redirected the traffic to a different (working) machine.
Things should be good now. Let me know if you're still having problems.

Thanks.

Hmmm...I wonder if this could be related to the other direct linking problem I'm having, discussed in this thread: http://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?p=5896#5896

Maybe fixing one thing broke something else unintentionally? Would the tech guys check on this? Thanks.

Phyllis!!! The direct link counter on the fish in that thread still reads only SIX!!!! That thread has been opened numerous times since I posted it.

SIX!

It is not counting page views! It can not count page views and I don't see how it could be made to count page views.

It counts the actual number of links. If you want to turn direct linking off on all of your images email the pbase team. If you think your counter is broken email slug. Or delete and reupload the book and make it stop for now. It will break all of the links eventually.

My bet is still on pirates.

Cheers

Could you give some example of links you used for the direct linkage.

the small box with red cross. Actually sometimes it works and then it
doesn't - frustrating !!! Can it be more reliable ?

I'm now starting to regret paying for pbase since this is one of the
more useful function I hope to depend on.

PLEASE HELP !!!!
