Virtual 'Camera Club'?

I live a bit far from any urban center where I might find a group of like-minded photographers with whom I can discuss/critique photos.

Would anyone be interested in forming a web based group?

I'm thinking a small group, people who like to shoot similar images (I'm not too interested in pictures of your sister's wedding reception or lots of shots of your dachshund).

I envision the group as using a pBase site and allowing each member to control a single Gallery to post his/her work. Then the other members could critique or edit/upload suggestions for improvement.

Any interest? Better ideas? Existing groups I might join?

(You might take a quick look at my site to see what interests me. If someone wants to take this basic idea and create a club for dachshund lovers do so with my blessings ;o)

There are a few critique sites on the web
You post a picture and other people write a critique or comment on it. I have learnt a lot from these sites some are just friendly comments like nice shot etc. but some right very serious comments. You also get to write critiques on other pictures and that also helps to focus on problems.

you can also try http://www.photosig.com much bigger but I get much less attention there. and http://www.usefil.com haven't been there for a long time it was very slow moving

Thanks for the site suggestions. I'm familiar with some of them and have been using http://www.trekearth.com.

The problem I have with these sites is that the membership can become very large and it becomes impossible to 'know' the other posters.

My idea is for a smaller, fixed group of people who interact on a somewhat regular basis with each other. Something like a photo club that meets once a month or so.

I suppose I'm after building a community, not throwing my work out into a large city and seeing if someone steps on it. ;o)
