new feature: profile page portrait photo

For the past several days, my profile photo has been disappearing. I select and set the profile picture, confirm that it's appearing on my profile, then I return the next day, and it's gone, and has to be reset. Is anyone else having this experience? Is there a workaround for this new feature? I'm pretty sure this isn't a local cache issue, since I have tried clearing the cache as well as checking my profile page with a different browser.

It is this picture: http://www.pbase.com/lagavulin/image/32640382 Public picture, public gallery. I notice it has disappeared from my profile page again, after resetting it this morning. I am going to set it again now ... let's see how long it sticks this time.
