Let me hazard a guess: the former records a vote for the current image, the latter for the current gallery...

Took me a while to find it but go to Popular Galleries, just to the right of the work Galleries is the word Photos. Click on it or follow this link

A couple of thoughts about this thread. First Slug created a Category for US Politics, now people are clammoring for one for Nudes and Glamor photography. What's next? A category for Sunrises and one for Sunsets? I can understand the need for the Political category as the current occupants of it abused this site for their own political agendas. I have seen no other abuse here. I would ask that we only use categories as a last resort. There are an infinite number of categories and an infinite number of ways you can categorize the same thing.

As Ukexpat said rather nicely:

One man's porn is another man's art...

Secondly, since we do have a category for US Politics why are only Political galleries in there. How come individual political photographs aren't in there as well?

I'm definitely agreed that the "political" galleries were getting mighty tedious. Especially since they were mainly of the "Rah Rah Rah for my candidate" variety.
Personally I'd be glad to not have to go through "photos" such as:

in order to see the legitimate work on Pbase.

Good work Slug et al
