NPR interviewed a caption writer who worked for Magnum Photo, founded by Robert Capa, where Cartier-Bresson also worked. The caption writer said everyone called him "Cartier."
When asked to describe Cartier, she quickly said "invisible." "He blended in so well, nobody realized he was clicking his camera." She also told of a walk she took with Cartier. There were puddles on the ground and they were chatting together when a bride and groom appeared. Cartier took out his camera in a flash (no pun intended), and aimed the camera not at the couple, but at the puddle, where the couple's image was reflected.
