you know the old saying, "once in a blue moon"?

this saturday is a blue moon.

let's see your cool moon shots; for those on the west coast (usa), the moon will rise at 7:41 pm on friday and 8:30pm on saturday (the full and blue moon).

what's a blue moon?
it's when we get a full moon twice in one month. lucky us.

An art installation (tidal sculpture) is getting installed (duh) right outside my house in the sea for this:

so will have to get some photos of that too...

Scotsman wrote:The sculpture, which was still being constructed on the beach today, is made of a range of materials, including steel, plastic and chains. Mr Nisbet’s work, said to explore the "evolving nature of our relationship with the natural world", is circular to reflect the shape of the moon.

People will be able to see it when the tide is out but it will completely change at high tide, because of 40 coloured discs that will shimmer in the water to create a fluorescent effect.

I live in the heart of DC, so I figured that I wouldn't be able to see the moon at all.

It was surprisingly clear out.

As a side note, I posted this in my PaD gallery but it doesn't seem to be showing up on the meta-pad-gallery. Am I doing something wrong?

not sure what you mean by meta-pad gallery. did you specify the gallery as your PAD gallery (under "edit this gallery" at the bottom).

Thanks han. Yeah, it actually kinda looks like it's taken from a plane above the clouds, which I don't really like.

It's actually a double exposure. The exposure for the moon was about 10 stops from the exposure for the clouds, so the clouds don't show up in front of the moon. It kinda makes it look fake. Next time I'll try to keep the exposures closer together, or wait till the clouds are only around the moon, not infront of it.

Fixed the pad problems. I really like your cityscape one. The moon is nice and low. I like the tree one also, but I'd like to see more of that creepy tree.
