SEPTEMBER CHALLENGE - OLD THINGS

Post Mon Aug 31, 2015 9:44 pm

Old Things - A Poem by James J. Metcalfe

I like old houses and old streets
The tree that shows its age
And that familiar color of
The faded printed page.
I like old shoes and battered hats
The wrinkles in a brow
and fields that have not felt for years
The turning of a plow.
Each month and moon of long ago
And every smile and tear
Become the music of a song
That leaves a souvenir.
The world goes on from day to day
With love and flowers fair
And many are the hands that reach
For newness everywhere.
But in my heart I treasure all
The things that used to be
And I am really happy when
I dream in memory.

For September Challenge - OLD THINGS. Suggested by Jola and Boris.
Please present photos of old things. Still life, architecture, cars, trees, people or anything that you see that seems OLD.
If you want, you may present photographs in black and white, or treated in sepia, or with an antique processing if you want to add to the "old" effect. But this is not required.

RULES:
You may use this Challenge as your PaD, taking a shot per day.
Or you may use shots taken since the challenge subject was opened, and post one per day.
Either way, you must use photos taken expressly for the challenge, so fresh shots please.
Post a photo each day and post a link for the photo in this forum.
Review and comment on the other participant's entries.

It's been a couple of months since I last took part in a challenge...time restrictions, but I thought this one might be manageable.
However it seems the Pbase site has other ideas and time is being eaten up while waiting for 1 image to download, only to get no actual result when the cogs stop grinding.
If things improve I will try again but this regular failure is wearing thin.
Good luck friends

Life has prevented me from picking up a camera much over the past several months. I am feeling as rusty as this old farm equipment.

An old plantation home a few miles from my house.

Throughout history the cooked fruit has been used as food, but the tree is also grown for its attractive pale pink blossom and other ornamental qualities.
