BACK TO BASICS CHALLENGE - 3 - DYNAMIC TENSION

Eccentric placement of objects induces tension as the eye attempts to create its own balance. However, rather than think of an image as balanced or unbalanced, we can consider it in terms of its dynamic tension.

Dynamic tension is a way of using the energy and movement available in various features of the frame to draw the eye out of the picture in contrasting directions.
Here is a good website with photo examples.

Your Assignment ~
Take two photos that show Dynamic Tension in the composition.

If you would like to discuss your experience, please do. We can learn from it.

Please don’t use a treatment or process your photos. You may straighten and crop if necessary. You may process your RAW photos. Please don't 'correct' the image. We should try to get our best shot through the camera and not the computer

Commenting - lets try to give support to one another and point out what we like about the resulting photo(s).

If you have criticism, keep it constructive and hide the comment.

Deadline to post for this assignment is Saturday, July 19th.

I'm seeing Dynamic Tension everywhere. In this shot, my eyes can't decide between the lamps or the lines on the right.

I am guessing that converging lines fit the definition.

Once you figure out how to embed the image, it isn't so hard.

Thanks for the suggestion Lynn although I found it difficult to get my head around the concept!
