My Everyday

No. 5: Everywhere a Sign - An Altar and Display at the Northgate Gonzalez Supermarket in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego. The Day of the Days aka All Saints Day is a big celebration here with many decorations, altars, dances and festivals. Many people get dressed up and paint their faces. I did a series of portraits in Old Town San Diego last year, you can see them here: http://www.pbase.com/amoxtli/dia_de_los_muertos_2012. There is a big celebration again this Saturday in Old Town San Diego and forty photographers of my Photo Group will be attending taking pictures of the festivities. The real purpose of the celebrations are to remember ones loved ones who have passed away. I will be celebrating for my father who I lost this year.
