Weekly Challenge: "Experimentation"

With the dawn of the digital age in photography we no longer have to worry about film processing costs or running out of shots. As a result, experimenting with our photos' composition has become a real possibility. Take advantage of this fact and experiment with your composition - you never know whether an idea will work until you try it.

A few simple rules:

1. Themes are posted on Fridays to give you the weekend to come up with a FRESH shot for the challenge to post through Monday.

2. This is about interaction, learning, being challenged and having fun so... HAVE FUN!

3. The themes are specific but interpretations are broad. Stay on theme but PLEASE feel free to think outside the box.

4. Look at others' submissions, comment as moved to do so and offer supportive and constructive feedback. Please don't just post for exposure. Look and at least comment on some.

5. Did we already mention: HAVE FUN!!!

I experimented with composition as well as some post-processing options and finally settled on something that Picasa refers to as "Lomo-ish".

Added note (july 2nd) ----- I just now realized that I totally misunderstood the challenge! I thought we were supposed to experiment with an image's "Composition" but now I see everyone is experimenting with "Post-processing."

Oh well ....it is what it is. Duh!

I started with an image taken through a Kopp 5970 filter. This filter transmits Ultra-violet and near infrared. It blocks most visible light except for a little purple and red. I did layer several images, including a piece of one taken without a filter. I changed the hue of the sky for a little interest.

The Rochester International Jazz Festival has been going on for the last 9 days, which is why I did not participate in last week's challenge (I saw & heard 3 to 4 shows per night). However, I did shoot an image during the week that fit the "framing" challenge, so I did post it. To see it, hit "next" when viewing this week's photo.

(I misunderstood the challenge and waited until late in very low light and set the camera to what I figure would be the worst settings (except highest ISO). Was about to post it then saw that it ws post processing challenge. LOL. http://www.pbase.com/cits_4_pets/image/144452202 the wrong shot, Panasonic G3 did better than my old FZ18 could have..at least the image is recognizable )
Did this to a shot I took Thurs. afternoon. Great challenge as I am just started to experiment in PSE only cause my camera club has a Creative image competitions.
