WEEKLY INFORMAL CHALLENGE 81: "Tribute"

Post Thu Oct 27, 2011 3:28 am

Weekly Informal Challenge number 81 is "Tribute"

Quite simply an image in tribute to a person, place or thing that has been a major source of creative inspiration for you. However you see fit to tribute that source of inspiration, just give the deserved props for being significant to you.

“The most important tribute any human being can pay to a poem or a piece of prose he or she really loves is to learn it by heart. Not by brain, by heart; the expression is vital.” -George Steiner

I think I needed to give a little recognition perhaps. Thanks C.

This week challenge inspired me to make this collage of an old picture I found of my friend Fay, in order to create a new picture for the challenge

This is the first time I am posting an old image for the challenge. When I read Scott's description for the challenge, this image immediately came to my mind. It is especially important to me, because my father is not doing well, and I think of him every day.

My tribute is to "Books" ----- Books in general, and these books in particular.

Helen Hayes summed it up very well: "From your parents you learn love and laughter and how to put one foot before the other.
But when books are opened you discover you have wings."

Typical Vegas, here is a tribute to the gangster who founded Las Vegas in the 1940s. There is a nice marker dedicated to Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel located in the Flamingo Hotels gardens.

A tribute to a friend and my department head at NSCC that gave my the opportunity to give back through teaching. He has endured debilitating back pain as long as I have known him but now is whole and without pain. You will be missed but we celebrate your victory on the other side.

Hi,
I'm so glad to be participating here again!!!
We always hear from Cindi (Smith) running from one place to the other, looking for a job, taking wedding photos, commenting on photos, and she always does this with a smile!!! It's nice to have her as a friend!!!!

Have a great day!
Hugs, Maggie

A tribute to lesser painters, though I would like it to have been greater
