Any chance of a consensus on this? I think "name that shot" is too vague, it isn't really a challenge. I like the idea of action, and as Paul says, it doesn't have to be "action" it can be any number of abstractions on that theme...

I mentioned a few days ago that I thought a naming challenge, while it might be fun, wasn't really a photography thing.

I suggested action as a topic so I'm happy with that, and even if it involves 'Naming that action' it seems OK to me.

Action could of course be related to almost any verb: walking, running, flying, painting, or perhaps the consequences as well.

I really like the idea of "Action" for the Feb. challenge. "Naming that action" seems odd. Could someone please explain how we would do that?

I vote for just a good old fashioned "Action" challenge for February.

If we are looking for consensus I vote for 'Action'. It keeps the focus on photographic skills and should offer lots of opportunities for everyone.

So which theme is it?

Name that photo is not a photography challenge... you don't learn anything about photography from coming up with captions.. If it's action I'm in, if not I'll check in from time to time to test my literary skills..

I think "Naming" the photo can add to the social-ability of the exchange. Adding "action" could enliven the discussion, too. I don't see why "naming" would take away from the over-all learning experience of a challenge where everyone is adding new work each day. There is always something to learn from the viewing of new works whatever they be. I'm open, and wanted to get started. Carol
